The solar system



 Introduction

Planets

In addition to planets, the solar system also contains several dwarf planets, including Pluto, Ceres, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris. These objects are smaller than the eight planets and are typically located in the outer regions of the solar system. There are also numerous moons that orbit around the planets and dwarf planets. Some of the notable moons include Earth's moon, Mars' Phobos and Deimos, Jupiter's Europa and Ganymede, and Saturn's Titan and Enceladus. 

The solar system is also home to a vast collection of asteroids, comets, and other space debris. These objects are remnants of the formation of the solar system and provide valuable insights into the history of the system. Asteroids are small, rocky objects that orbit the sun, while comets are icy objects that have a long tail when they approach the sun. 

Formation of solar system 

The solar system formed around 4.6 billion years ago from a cloud of gas and dust. The sun, planets, and other objects in the solar system all formed from this cloud. The formation of the solar system is still a subject of active research, but scientists believe that the process was triggered by a nearby supernova or a shockwave from a nearby star.
